PowerMediaPlus

Tell about a video clip that you found for your classroom on PowerMediaPlus.com (the new United Streaming). Anything else interesting you learned can be shared.

It looks like it has useful clips to watch. I do highly recommend downloading first whatever it is you are going to watch. If you are having computer "issues" it can stop the clip in the middle and you may be done. It helps to be prepared :)

I would have to mess around with this more. I havn't used United Streaming before so I don't have anything to compare it too. I like having additional tools to work with in my classes.
I did find videos on making money and types of art.

I looked at grade level k-3 videos and then clicked on literature and found 351 titles! First graders do enjoy watching their favorite stories on video. I think this media will be a great learning tool.

Wow! Cool illustrations and great background music. You do have to download most of the stories. They are restricted so you only get bits and pieces. I need more time to play with this site.

Power Media Plus looked like a better tool for education than United Streaming. Power Media Plus allows you to search for videos by grade level then subject. I like that features because so many times videos are too hard for primary kids.

I found a video in the guidance area about making decisions on PowerMediaPlus. I want to use this form of media more in my classes next year. I also plan to go to United Streaming while we can this summer and download videos that relate to the guidance area. They had some career videos for the elementary level.

There some clips over grammar topics that I could assign as useful reinforcers. I would like to search for more topics that relate to culture.

I will be surfing this site a lot! There are lots of books on video and several Magic School Bus videos.

I found a video called "Science Is Elementary: What's in Space? The Earth, the moon, and space flight. I really like the fact that they have lesson activities and worksheets that correlate with the video. I think this will be a great classroom resource for teachers. I'm going to encourage our administration to take a look at this.

I think Powermediaplus could be an excellent resource for me. Right now there are not very many video clips for my subject areas. Hopefully this site will grow quickly and have a lot more videos to choose from.

I found a video on grammar. It has high school students explaining the differences between nouns, pronoun. There were several different areas they were talking about. I believe some of my students might find this interesting.

I watched, "What's in Space The Earth, The Moon, and Space Flight."
It was very well done! It also includes worksheets, lesson plans, and assignments. What a neat tool to use in the classroom!

I watched a couple of clips, one on westward expansion and one on civil rights. I could really use the site in my classes, especially in modern problems where I need short blips versus the "movie" type. I will need to remember this come the fall.

I didn't find much for library skills. I did find one on the encyclopedia that might be useful. The images were quite good. I'm sure I will find it useful as the year progresses.
